Simon Gush

NEWS: Simon Gush's first European solo exhibition, 1st and 3rd, took place at Galerie West in the Hague, the Netherlands, from 21 April to 29 May, followed by 4 for Four at SMAK, Ghent, Belgium, from 5 June to 22 August. He has an upcoming solo show at Michael Stevenson opening 21 October.

BIOGRAPHY
Born in 1981, Simon Gush graduated with a BA(FA) from the University of Witwatersrand in 2003, and in 2008 completed his postgraduate studies at the Hoger Instituut van Schone Kunsten, Ghent, Belgium. He held two collaborative exhibitions with Dorothee Kreutzfeldt, at the João Ferreira Gallery, Cape Town, and the Point Blank Gallery/Twist Street Drill Hall, Johannesburg, in 2007; other solo exhibitions have taken place at Outlet, Pretoria (2005 and 2006), and the Johannesburg Art Gallery (2003). He showed newly commissioned work on the 2009 Luleå Summer Biennial, Sweden. Other recent group shows include Halakasha at the Standard Bank Gallery, Johannesburg (2010); Die Keuze van Koen van den Broek at Indian Caps, Antwerp, Belgium (2009); Test Patterns: Recent video work from South Africa at San Francisco Camerawork, San Francisco, USA (2009); and .za: Giovane arte dal Sudafrica at Palazzo delle Papesse, Siena (2008).
