NEWS: Simon Gush showed newly commissioned work on the Luleå Summer Biennial, Sweden, from 17 June to 23 August 2009. He has a solo show at Galerie West, The Hague, The Netherlands, from 21 April to 29 May 2010.

BIOGRAPHY
Simon Gush graduated with a BA(FA) from the University of Witwatersrand in 2003, and in 2008 completed his postgraduate studies at the Hoger Instituut van Schone Kunsten, Ghent, Belgium. He held two collaborative exhibitions with Dorothee Kreutzfeldt, at the João Ferreira Gallery, Cape Town, and the Point Blank Gallery/Twist Street Drill Hall, Johannesburg, in 2007; other solo exhibitions have taken place at Outlet, Pretoria (2005 and 2006), and the Johannesburg Art Gallery (2003). Recent group shows include Die Keuze van Koen van den Broek at Indian Caps, Antwerp, Belgium (2009); Test Patterns: Recent video work from South Africa at San Francisco Camerawork, San Francisco, USA (2009); .za: Giovane arte dal Sudafrica at Palazzo delle Papesse, Siena (2008); Perfect Lovers at Art Extra (now Brodie/Stevenson), Johannesburg (2008); Bad Moon Rising at the Silverman Gallery, San Francisco, USA (2008); El Manifiesto De Santiago / Das-Santiago Manifest, Centro Cultural Matucana 100, Santiago, Chile (2007); Out of Place: Open Archive #1, Argos, Brussels, Belgium (2007) and Making Waves, The Castle, Cape Town, and Albany Museum, Grahamstown (2006-7). Gush founded and curated the Parking Gallery, an artist-run temporary project space, in Johannesburg for six months of 2006.
