Odili Donald Odita

NEWS: Odili Donald Odita inaugurated the Project Room at the Studio Museum in Harlem with a wall painting titled Equalizer, and has completed an expansive wall work, Flow, for the new Zaha Hadid-designed Contemporary Art Center in Cincinnati, on view until Fall 2008. His artistic/curatorial project, Paper Trails II: Passing Through Clouds is at the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, Waltham, Massachusetts (8 May - 27 July). He has a solo exhibition at Michael Stevenson opening October 2008.

BIOGRAPHY
Born in 1966 in Enugu, Nigeria, Odita has lived in the United States virtually all his life. Besides being an artist, he is also a critic who has written for publications such as Flash Art and NKA, and a professor who currently teaches painting at the Tyler School of Art, Temple University, Philadelphia. Recent exhibitions include the 52nd Venice Biennale (2007); Ordering and Seduction at Haus Konstruktiv, Zurich (2006); Parallel Economies at Wertz Contemporary, Atlanta, Georgia (2006); the 2004 Dakar biennale; A Fiction of Authenticity: Contemporary Africa Abroad at the Contemporary Art Museum, St Louis (2003); and Black President: The Art and Legacy of Fela Anikulapo Kuti at the New Museum, New York (2003).
